West Dem draw, East Bank beat Upper Corentyne by 87 runs

GCB/Jaguars 3-Day Franchise League, round 6

Upper Corentyne beat East Bank by 87 runs while West Demerara hammered Lower Corentyne into a draw when round six of the GCB/Jaguars 3-Day Franchise League continued on Sunday.

Batting first, Upper Corentyne made 262 all out in 62 overs, thanks to Clinton Pestano (82) and Eon Hooper (50). East Bank were then rocked out for 240 in 87.5 overs with Sachin Singh (60) and Captain Ronaldo Ali-Mohammed (55) making the bulk of the runs.
Batting a second time, Upper Corentyne after being 201-0 in 49 overs with a lead of 223 runs, declared, compliments of opener Kandasammy Surujnarine, who racked up 150 not out; Balchand Baldeo, who made 79 and Rajiv Ivan, 31.
Needing a huge 314 to win, East Bank slid to 227 all out in 67.1 overs despite their skipper Ali-Mohammed scoring a battling 96. Leg-spinner Shawn Perreira (3-72), along with Clinton Pestano and Eon Hooper with two wickets each, ensured the chase was halted as they handed East Bank an 87-run loss.

Lower Corentyne vs West Demerara at Young Warriors Ground
Lower Corentyne were knocked over for 153 in 77 overs, with Alex Algoo unbeaten on 68 and Kassim Khan chipping in with 24. The bowling was shared among skipper Akshaya Persaud (2-11); Richie Looknauth (2-18); Keshan Sehyodan (2-35) and Mahendra Dhanpaul (2-42).
In reply, West Dem declared on 206-4 after the captain, Persaud, who scored 61 in the first innings, racked up his second ton of the tournament to end on 101 not out as Tevin Imlach followed up his first-innings 119 with a composed 64. West Dem declared shortly after their captain stroked his hundred and the match ended in a draw.

Essequibo vs East Coast at Tuschen Ground
In their first innings, Essequibo made 258 all out. Vijai Surujpaul made 58, Kemol Savory, 20 and Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 91. Ameer Khan took 5 for 75, Bashkar Yadram 3 for 52, and Royston Simon 2 for 40 bowling for East Coast,
In their second innings, East Coast are 51 for 4. Kevin Gordon has 2 for 10 and Anthony Adams 1 for 12 with one run-out. East Coast lead by 82 with 6 wickets remaining.
