2016 UEFA Team Of The Year Announced

The votes have been counted and the results are in, UEFA have announced their team of the year. Well I say it’s “their team” but actually it’s yours, because it was voted for by fans. Got a problem with the team? Take it up with yourself!

Personally when it comes to football I prefer an end of season awards to an end of year one but as I don’t run UEFA, yet, it’s not actually my choice. I also didn’t vote so I can’t really complain.

UEFA Team of the Year:
Goalkeeper: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus / Italy)
Defender: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid FC/Spain), Gerard Pique (FC Barcelona/Spain), Jerome Boateng (FC Bayern Munich/Germany), Leonardo Bonucci (Juventus/Italy)
Midfielder: Toni Kroos (Real Madrid FC/Germany), Luka Modric (Real Madrid FC/Croatia), Andres Iniesta (FC Barcelona/Spain)
Forwards: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid FC/Portugal), Lionel Messi (FC Barcelona/Spain), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid/France)

Sergio Ramos was the most voted for player whilst Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann is the player in the final XI with the least number of votes, only 31% of people who voted picked him:
