Lionel Messi ‘involved in altercation with Manchester City player in tunnel’ after Barcelona loss

Sadly, there was no Tunnel Cam at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night after Manchester City’s triumphant victory over Barcelona.

Just days after Neymar appeared to push an opponent down the stairs and into the tunnel, his captain Lionel Messi was reportedly involved in an altercation in the tunnel with a City player.

Spanish news outlet Cadena Ser reported that an unnamed City player “insulted” Messi after the match, and that the Argentine responded by calling him an “idiot”.

Newspaper Mundo Deportivo also claimed that Messi even headed to the City dressing room to seek out the player in question.

Another Spanish newspaper, Marca, reported that Messi called the player “stupid”, and that Messi’s Argentina team-mate Sergio Aguero had to act as the peacemaker to diffuse the situation.

According to the Daily Mirror, Messi even said: “Come back here, don’t hide…”

The Barcelona superstar had given Luis Enrique’s side the lead against City, only for Pep Guardiola’s men to roar back with three goals to clinch a stunning win.
