T20 action commenced on the West Demerara with 2 games being played at the Zeeburg Sports Club Ground. The first game was a match up between Windsor Forest and Sawpit at 9:30am while the second encounter saw hosts, Zeeburg SC oppose Belle West from 1:30pm
Sawpit won the toss and opted to field first on a damp wicket. Windsor Forest managed to
tally up 157-10 off 19.3 overs with their principal score coming from the bat of Naveed Ali 60 ( 7×6 , 2×4) with support from Deoram Chanderbir 23 ( 1×6 , 3×4) and Yudistir Parbhudin 18 ( 1×6 , 2×4) . Bowling for Sawpit , R. Ramnarine took 4-19 and s. Jodha 2-12.
Neeeding 158 for victory , sawpit were aided by some 35 extras and a few dropped catches in their chase , with only H. Ragoonauth 42 and I.Khan 23 reaching double figures. Needing some 90 runs from the last 7 overs to win , Sawpit managed to reduce it to 10 off the last 6 balls with one wicket in hand. The batsmen only mustered 9 to send the game in to a super over. Sawpit managed to score 11 runs in the super over and then A.Joe bowled a skilled over to restrict Windsor Forest to only 6, handing sawpit the victory by 5 runs. Bowling for Windsor Forest Ganpat Sukram claimed 3-17 from 4 overs , Naveed Ali 2- 11 from 4 overs and Dindial Guyadeen 2-14 from 4.
In the second game of the day,Zeeburg defeated Bell West by 8 wickets. The visitors won the toss and posted 125 all out from 18 overs, Timour Mohamed bagged 3-2 and Mark Jeffers had 3 -28. Zeeburg in reply knocked off the runs in 10 overs with Yutest Dhanpaul hitting 66 (6x6s, 5x4s) and Balbinder Shivpersaud 26.
