Cornelia Ida are WDCA 2015 T20 Champions.

Cornelia Ida Cricket Club emerged victorious over Wales CDC  yesterday at the Joe Veira cricket ground. The much anticipated final which was postponed since last December due to the introduction of the Local Franchise League, was nothing but a one sided affair. The game was scheduled to start at 9am , but officials from the Board and Umpires did not arrive at the venue until 10am. Due to overnight rain and no covers, the game was reduced to 15 overs per side .

Wales CDC won the toss and inserted Cornelia Ida to take first strike on a sticky wicket and damp outfield. Openers Richie Looknauth and Akshaya Persaud put on an opening stand of 150 in just under 14 overs before Looknauth was dismissed for a magnificent 77. To the surprise of the crowd , Looknauth outscored Guyana Amazon Warriors selectee Akshaya Persaud in a partnership that completely deflated  the opposition. The Wales bowlers had no answers as they were flayed to all parts of the ground in a display of timed hitting on a tricky wicket to bat on. Persaud continued to clear the ropes at ease , him and Naveed Ali finished off the innings in a hurry with some 6 sixes coming in the last 10 balls to push the total towards the 200 mark. Kevin Lindo had some respite after he bowled the  last over for 14 runs , a somewhat achievement despite being hit onto the road off the 2nd ball .  Persaud finished 79* and Ali 13*, with the team total being  a mammoth 187-1 in 15 overs.

Cornelia Ida boasting a potent bowling attack , wasted no time in dismantling their opposition for 38-10 to complete a flawless performance . Richie Looknauth returned with the ball to grab 3 wickets, sealing off a man of the match performance. Akshaya Persaud, Shameer Khan and Reaz Khan all had 2 wickets a piece .
