TSC deliver blow to MSC

Reigning champs DCC win again

Shemroy Kendall hit an aggressive half century to lead Transport Sports Club (TSC) past host Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) in their Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/ New Building Society (NBS) 40 overs second division match.

Kendall’s 71 led the visitors to 185-6 in 29.4 overs in reply to the host 183-8 in 40 allotted overs. The right handed batsman was supported by Devaughn Nandan, who scored 28 in the middle of the innings. Shaquille Moseley claimed 2-24 for the host to cop off a good all-round performance and was supported by Mark Cumberbatch, who also collected two scalps.
When MSC batted, Moseley top scored with 58 and shared in 105 runs partnership with rookie Clarence Baird, who batted well for 44. Kefa Naughton chipped in with 25. Rafael Singh captured three wickets to finish as the visitors’ best bowler while Nandan and Shawn Massiah had two wickets each.
On Saturday MSC suffered another defeat, this time to the University of Guyana. They lost by seven runs via the Duckworth/ Lewis system. Batting first UG 185 all out in 37.4 overs, compliments of Dwayne Dodson 52 and Ray Newtown 44 not out. Ncosie Barker was the pick of the bowlers with 5-43 while skipper Floyd Rollins chipped in with 2-15.
In reply MSC needed 146 from 20 overs and they reached 139 when the overs expired. Newton returned with 3-21 as Kefa Naughton smashed 47 and Marcus Watkins 30.
At the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground, the host DCC destroyed Sophia by 171 runs.
Batting first the host made 277-8 from 40 overs, with Dennis Squires (52), Ashmead Nedd (44) and Judel McAlister (42) being the main scorers.
Squires with five wickets and Sachin Singh with four wickets then wreck the visitors’ innings which ended at 106 in 16 overs.
In the Guyana Defence Force clash against host Everest Cricket Club, the latter prevailed by eight wickets.
The host asked the visitors to take bat and bowled them out for 145 in 36.2 overs, with
Jeremiah Harris making 40. Left arm spinner Javid Rasheed took 4-20 from 6.2 and Avishkar ramgobin got 2-20 while Saheed Mohamed and Dwayne Adams took a wicket each.
Rain fell and the target was reduced to 109 from 30 overs, which the host made with two wickets down in 18 overs. Mohamed made 45 and Khemraj Ramdeen 45 not out.
