Fresh off of the Tour of Tobago and the Victor Maceado Memorial road race, the country’s best cyclists will take to the National Park inner circuit this Saturday for the 12th annual Hand-in-Hand Group of Insurance 11-race programme. The day’s event is organized by National Cycling coach, Hassan Mohamed and will serve as excellent preparation for the Gold Race.
The first race of the day will pedal off at 09:00h with the juniors riding off in the BXM races before Team Cocos Raynauth “Obeah man” Jeffrey look to defend his title in the 35-lap feature event. Jeffery will be in ‘tip top’ shape, having performed exceptionally well in the Tour of Tobago, but it is expected that this will not be a walk in the park as top riders such as fellow team mate, Stephano Husbands, Hamza Eastman as well as veteran Junior Niles, Orville Hinds (Team Evolution), Michael Anthony (Team Evolution), Gerron Williams (Continental), Raul Leal (Team Evolution) will all be gunning for top honours.
In 2015; in the BMX 6-9 John Niles, Christopher Goring, Alexander Leung rode away with the spoils while in the BMX Boys 9-12, Simon Chee, Christopher Goring, Shea Sue Hang were ahead of the competition.
In the BMX Boys 12-14, Adelia Hodge, Jonathon Jagdeo, Thuran Garbarran took top honours while in the Boys & Girls 12-14 category it was Ronaldo Narine and Ronella Samuels on the podium. The Veterans Under-50 title wen to Junior Niles with Horace Burrowes, Shameer Baksh riding in second and third respectively. The Veterans Over-50 was taken by Linden Blackman while Virgil Jones finished second. The exciting Juveniles category was dominated by Jamal John, Raphael Leung, Christopher Griffith; Mountain Bikes Shane Bourne, Marcus Keiler and Seon Budhan.
